چکیده
Alternative food sources could sustain predator populations by influencing their performances including predation, development, and reproduction in periods of shortage or scarcity prey under laboratory fields conditions. The aim this study was to explore suitability cattail pollen (Typha orientalis) as an alternative source for different stages Amblyseius herbicolus (Chant) (Acari: Phytoseiidae) on predation capacity against the eggs whitefly Trialeurodes vaporariorum (Westwood) (Hemiptera: Aleyrodidae), developmental reproductive responses predators diet switching regimes conditions (T1: nymphs early adults fed pollen; T2: but eggs; T3: T4: eggs). Results experiment revealed that although A. all treatment groups, predatory mites obviously differed target pest when during stages. group T2 highest average rate, being 1.31, 1.17, 1.49 times those groups T1, T3, T4, respectively. Our results indicated were suitable herbicolus, because it able develop from egg adult females groups. mixed diets (T2 T3 groups) positive effects parameters females, leading higher oviposition rates shorter durations compared with T1 T4. (1.32, 1.26, 1.81 respectively); however, no significant differences observed between All succeeded reaching adulthood, duration time among four longest shortest obtained T4 present demonstrated can T. eggs, additional high nutritional value mite enhance towards successfully complete its immature development well reproduction.

The predaceous mite Amblyseius herbicolus (Chant) is the second most abundant phytoseiid on coffee plants (Coffea arabica L), after Euseius alatus DeLeon, in Lavras, MG, Brazil, associated to the vector of the coffee ring spot virus, Brevipalpus phoenicis (Geijskes) (Acari: Tenuipalpidae). Its life history was studied taking into account biological aspects, life table, predatory activity and fu...

Aponychus corpuzae is a pest of bamboo in Fujian, China. The predatory mite Amblyseius longispinosus was explored as a potential biocontrol agent against Ap. corpuzae in a series of experiments on its predation on Ap. corpuzae . The rate of prey consumption (per predator female) increased linearly with temperature from 1.35 at 15°C to 5.22 at 35°C (the relationship can be described by Y = -1.00...

Schizotetranychus nanjingensis Ma & Yuan is a mite pest injurious to the giant bamboo ( Phyllostachys pubscens ) in Fujian, China. The predatory mite Amblyseius longispinosus was explored as a potential biocontrol agent against S. nanjingensis in a series of experiments. Functional response experiments at six different temperatures showed that handling time ( Th ) generally decreased with tempe...

The diversity of mites on Mabea fistulifera from two fragments of Semideciduos forests (Bosque Municipal = BM; Sítio Santo Antônio = SA) and the suitability of its pollen as food for phytoseiid mites were studied. BM is in an urban area whereas SA is in a rural area, near São José do Rio Preto. Monthly samples were collected in 2001. In each area and sampling date, 60 leaves were taken from thr...
